Under the Influence Super Furry Animals
CD released 21st March
Following in the footsteps of musical luminaries Morrissey,
Ian Brown, Paul Heaton and Paul Weller, the fifth in the
series of Under The Influence compilations charting beloved
and inspiring tracks of the great and the good sees one of
the most beloved bands in the UK – the Super Furry
Animals – hovering over the tape deck.
Wales' first sons have each selected three songs and
concocted a fifteen-track odyssey of an album that reflects
their own output of techno-folk lunacy. Far from being jokey,
however, the amalgam of styles reflects the band's
honesty with trying and failing to get a handle on our crazy
world.
Thus Joey Beltram's techno classic 'Energy Flash' nuzzles
alongside Dawn Penn's legendary 'You Don't
Love Me (No No No)' and the Beach Boys, Undertones,
MC5 and Underworld all make an appearance. Not forgetting
of course a drop of Welsh wonderment in the shape of Datblygu's
unpronounceable 'Casserole Efeillaid'.
A collection of musical influences & inspirations
