In 1991, unbelievable as it may seem, there was no such thing as a DJ mix CD, just bootleg DJ tapes, recorded live in clubs and knocked out through record shops. Until Mixmag Live, the world's first DJ mix series, came along.

Then as now, Mixmag Live was about finding upcoming DJ talent, names about to explode from the leftfield across the clubland spectrum, and letting them create their own audio landscape over a 70 minute mix. In stark contrast to most of the 30-odd albums released around Ibiza alone this Summer, Mixmag Live is about the art of the DJ, not about cramming as many club/chart hits into an album as possible. Here, on this double CD featuring tracks selected by some of the world's best underground DJs, is the proof.
