The DMC World DJ Championships 2008 are being held on Friday 26th and Saturday 27th September at IndigO2 in London. International heats are taking place now, across the globe, and if the UK competition was anything to go by, once again standards have been ramped up a notch this year.
This year's UK heats are done and dusted; the finalists travelled to Islington Academy on 17th July for the DMC UK DJ Championships and after a hard fought competition, DJ Skully was crowned the winner. Placing first in the competition means Skully is now set to represent UK turntablism in the solo DJ category and will compete against the cream of the global DJ crop at this year's competition.
Representing the UK in the Battle for Supremacy - a head to head scratch battle of wits, techniques and braggadocious ability - is DJ Switch. This young turntable wizard has stood up to the competition and emerged victorious for 3 years in a row now, retaining his dextrous deck dominance since 2006. Needless to say we're expecting big things from him this September!
The World finals mark the culmination of months of fierce competition in countries across the world including Japan, USA, Australia, Canada, across the whole of Europe and all the way out to China, Brazil and even Bulgaria – the winner here in September is the best of the best, period.
The Championships have been running for 24 years now and have helped launch the careers of a galaxy of stars from the DJ world ranging from early winners like the UK's Scratch Perverts, Plus One and Cutmaster Swift to legends like Q-Bert, C2C (4 x DMC World Team Champions), DJ Ca$h Money and Beastie Boys DJ Mixmaster Mike through to new names like DJ Craze, DJ Netik and last year's German winner Rafik who played showcase sets at all the UK Heats.
This year's event is hosted by DMC favourites' MC Trip, Killa Kela, and Billy Biznizz. MC Trip was awarded the Time Out accolade of 'Best Live Show of 2004'. He is explosive on stage and is Killa Kela's official MC/right hand man. To date he's shared the stage with Busta Rhymes, Outkast and N.E.R.D.

El dia 24 de Julio fue el dia mas esperado en años por todos los tornamesistas venezolanos.
La competencia Scratch Match se realizo en los espacios de ONE en el Centro San Ignacio. La casa llena y ojos bien abiertos para ver el talento de los djs AJD, RIZE1200, KU, MADPROBLEMA, AZTEK RUFFNECK, Q-FX Y WAKE.
El ganador fue DJ RIZE1200 quien nos representara en londres en el mundial de DMC. El segundo lugar fue para Q-FX y el 3er para AJD.
Los jueces de la competencia fueron Tuer-K, Dr.D y Aztek del DF de Mexico.
Bboys tambien animando como Lil'G, Largo, Sojo. El beatbox en la casa no falto con Black y WormTek. El maestro de ceremonia MC Cotture.

The 2008 DMC Technics World DJ Championships, the most prestigious DJ competition, is getting underway all over the world and now it's made its way to Singapore!
It has produced some of the biggest names in hip hop today, including Cash Money, DJ Craze, Q-bert and A-Trak, not forgetting local heroes like Andrew Chow, Rough, Koflow, Rattle and Inquisitive. An art form based on just 2 turntables, a mixer, and creativity, contestants will battle it out for the coveted crown and prizes. The National champion stands to win prizes from Panasonic and Technics, TDK Life on Record, Ortofon, Crumpler and Carhartt worth up to $3,500.

DMC Brazil Final Results - 31/07/2008
Thirteen DJs battled it out at club Pacha on Sunday 27th July in front of a crowd of one thousand four hundred!! The battle was close with DJ Tano coming third with a set that was filled with a lot of technical skill and Brazilian beats. The hot favourite DJ Erik J came a close second with a very funky set filled with a lot of original routines. DJ RM performed a flawless set with some tight scratch patterns and some original juggles. He had the crowd going wild with his mix of Brazilian and technical skill and is definitely going to be one to watch at the DMC World Finals in London on 27th Sept!!
